The Pilgrim Prince

"Quite frankly, I'm not impressed. There's something about him I just don't like. He's been in our neighborhood for years. He's very stand-offish. Once a year he sticks a religious calendar in our door but for the rest of the year he's never seen. He has a reputation for being cheap and cutting hard deals around town. He looks out for Number One. Even when we had a 'welcoming' for a poor family that moved in next door, he never showed up or sent a gift over. Oh, he did poke his head in our door two months ago to ask us to attend a Bible meeting."

Desensitized Believer

I'm almost embarrassed over spending so much of my life thinking that way. All that stuff seems so petty now. Once I thought those things were fundamental and important to God. I guess I have been liberated in my thinking. God has bigger things to worry about and so do I. I'm finished with the small stuff."

Tell No One

"Guess what? Here's my plan. I'm so excited. I had this great idea an hour ago and I just know I want to follow through on it. It will mean some humongous changes and it will take a great deal of effort - hey, but I'm not a wimp. I can handle it."

Is Following Christ a Blast?

If Christianity appeals to you because it promises you an easy path of prosperity and a smooth sail through life, then you have been taken in a scam. If you've come across cheerleaders telling you to jump on the Jesus bandwagon and you'll be in for one life-long blast of a good time, steer clear of such fraudulent claims.

My Child is the Best By Far!

Did papa Samuel think to himself: "I'm old and I must soon pass on the torch? I want to pick out strong leaders for Israel. I can see no more capable and gifted men than my two dear sons. Goodness gracious my sons are good! Joel and Abiah (Abijah) are tops in my books. My little boys have become men with so much potential. They're smart, honest, fair, and I just know everyone will fall in love with them. I'd be so thrilled to see my sons step up to the plate and hit a home run."

The One and Final Sacrifice for Sin

Sin has plagued the human race for quite some time. Adam had no idea of the far-reaching consequences of his choice to deliberately act against God by pleasing himself in Eden's beautiful garden. Had he been able to look down the corridor of time to see the carnage and darkness his one rebellious act would cause, would he have slammed on the brakes? I doubt it. Sin is such a selfish monster and sinning is such a selfish act. Usually we are blinded by the temptation of the moment.

 Home Again!

"Naomi, dear - we have to leave this place. Trusting God is great in theory but when the crops have failed and the grass is turning brown and the wells are going dry, common sense tells you it's time to make a move. We must pack our bags and leave."

"We have the Best!"

"It was a great game but I'm terrible at games. My brain just works too slowly. I don't retain facts very well and I'm hopeless at fast recall. But I'm not the only one; the other team would have slaughtered us had Sam not been on our side. He's amazing. We had the best! He's a walking encyclopedia and faster than Google Search. As soon as Sam joined our side, I knew the other team didn't stand a chance."
