Applying the Salt

According to a leading hypertension expert, Dr. Stephen Havas, of the University of Maryland Medical Center, 150,000 Americans die annually from too much salt in their diet. Research says adults in North America ingest, on average, nearly 4,000 mg of sodium every day. That far exceeds the recommended upper limit of 2,400 mg of salt daily.

A Heart in Tune with the Lord

How's your heart? In romance sometimes it flutters. In sorrow it is broken. In trials it is anxious and often very heavy. In carefree or frivolous moments it can be lighthearted. When good news arrives it becomes a happy heart. In the face of disappointment or shabby treatment it can be bitter. Selfishness is the product of a stingy heart. The list of heart conditions is a long one.

The Galatian Lists

Have you ever been excited over seeing your name on a special list such as a High School Honors List or maybe the Dean's List at university? Do you think billionaires get excited when their name appears on Forbes annual listing of billionaires? How does an author feel when they see their name on the Best Seller's List?

Christian Living isn't a Piece of Cake

How are things today? When you first trusted Christ, did you think life would magically become a 'piece of cake'? Were you expecting the Christian life to be 'a breeze' or 'fun in the sun' or 'a bed of roses' or a 'stroll through the park'?

Emmaus Walk thru the Scriptures

It had been the worst Passover weekend ever. These two were heading home broken-hearted. There wasn't even a hint of happiness or hope on their faces. How can people properly worship if the doors to worship are closed off? He opened them. The renovation crew was ordered to -

The Golden Scepter

It was urgent. The situation was bleak. A trusted but treacherous servant of the King of Persia had concocted a scheme to annihilate the Jews in the Persian Empire. Haman advised the King that the Jews were, in fact, a hidden but very real threat to him and his kingdom. Haman's hidden motive was to eliminate Mordecai, the Jew, who was refusing to bow down before him when their paths crossed. Proud, egotistical Haman was infuriated. His arrogant and revengeful heart hatched the annihilation scheme. An edict was passed to purge the kingdom of the Jewish race by mass execution.

Paul's Parting Shot

'Paul's Parting Shot' is probably a poor caption for this Bible Bite and somewhat misleading. There's a certain smugness that we can hardly conceal when we 'have the last word' in a heated debate. We may even gloat over the way we ended a tense discussion - our big parting shot.

Is Christ it?

Yes or no? The correct answer is: YES!

But couldn’t a person have Christ and a bit more or a lot more? Why confine yourself to Jesus Christ? It’s such a big world of ideas out there with many beliefs and philosophies – isn’t it a bit narrow to restrict yourself to just Christ? Wouldn’t a person be okay if they never denied Christ but, on the other hand, were open to a broader range of ideas and a more inclusive spirituality? After all, society is advancing and we know so much more now then they did back in Bible times.
