Thirsting for Your Bible in 2011

We make financial plans, family plans, vacation plans, wedding plans, career plans and many other plans. And the reality is - we love some of those plans and look forward to them with excitement and optimism. When it comes to the deepest part of your life, what plan are you trying to follow and what excitement and thrill are you enjoying as you think of the realization and outcome of that plan?

Are you heading into 2011 with a laissez-fair approach and a cavalier attitude? Has the intake of your spiritual food been hit and miss - without any rhyme or reason - sporadic and totally casual? Is there a little fire of excitement burning just now as you think of the very real possibility of getting to know your great God and enjoying a robust relationship with Him as you read and enjoy and obey His Word?

Things don't 'just' happen. Progress happens when you make a choice. The chances of you spending more time in the Word of God in 2011 are slim - unless you make concrete plans to increase your intake of the Scriptures. This is not about implementing a tedious plan that you must follow out of duty - but rather, a method whereby your love and thirst for God's Word can be satisfied daily, as His Word flows into you and through you, enriching and empowering your life for the Lord.

We need a daily balanced intake of spiritual nutrients if we are going to thrive spiritually for the Lord.  (Psalm 119:9-16)

All Scripture is breathed out by God

and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction,

and for training in righteousness,

that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

2Timothy 3:16-17

Not a single Christian is doing well if they can regularly go two or three days at a time without reading the Bible.

If you would truly like power in your life, then deliberately and strategically increase your time in the Word of God. If you truly want to know your God and deepen your relationship with Christ, then open your heart to the Lord and drink from His Word with anticipation. Ask the Holy Spirit to mightily work in your life and give you the desire and strength to surrender your will each day and bow your heart to the claims of Christ.

There are a variety of Bible Reading Schedules available to you. Go to the 'Links' section of www.heaven4sure.com for some options or Google "annual Bible Reading Plan". For tips on effective Bible Reading, scroll down and read the bottom section of this email.

This is basically the same email that is sent out at the end of each year. Why? Because it is relevant each year. May the Lord richly bless you and yours throughout 2011.

Walk carefully and closely with the Lord today,

Peter Ramsay
