Every day we are bombarded with news from our communities, countries, and around the world. Disasters, tragedies, wars, environmental issues, politics, corporate scandals, social and lifestyle issues, winners and losers. The media has touched every part of our lives – feeding us the same information on world events and happenings - creating a bond shared among citizens of this planet.

Can we, in return, use the media’s news in our own lives? Can we learn deeper ‘life’ lessons from the same stories splashed across the news? Every couple of weeks, a new story is added to this section. Why would we add a piece of news here?  We hope that by comparing and contrasting parts of the story to the spiritual side of your life, you will dig deeper also, and think about your own personal relationship with God.

If the life lesson drawn from the story conflicts with your thinking, please email and let us know.  If the story has raised a question or concern in your mind, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us personally.

By Peter Ramsay @ 6:21 PM :: 1356 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Life Lessons

It really wasn’t blind faith nor was it a shot in the dark or a leap into the unknown. It was a deliberate rescue act in the face of great danger. A caring individual assessed the situation: the danger above was immediate and deadly; the strong willing arms below were positively beckoning and trustworthy and in between there was no other way to safety.

Russell Crowe - Baptism and The Ten Commandments
By Peter Ramsay @ 7:32 PM :: 1457 Views :: 2 Comments :: :: Life Lessons

He’s in his early 40’s, married and has two young boys. But that’s not all. He’s a celebrity actor with many awards to his credit, including an Oscar. Despite his achievements and fame, he seems to have a spiritual thirst for something deeper.

Aussie Russell Crowe and his wife Danielle Spencer live ‘down-under’ but he’s no stranger to Hollywood and audiences around the world. He starred in Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind and The Insider – just to name a few. He has been playing heroic figures on the big screen for well over a decade.

Because of some religious ambivalence on his parents’ part, it seems Russell grew up with very little spiritual influence in his life.

It’s not a joke. Senator Ernie Chambers is no juvenile, young upstart or shooting star. He is Nebraska’s longest serving senator. He has politically represented the people of Omaha for 35+ years. He has been a champion for the underprivileged and the vulnerable. Although he often skips the morning prayers during the legislative sessions and levels criticism at Christians, he does not doubt the existence of God.
