Every day we are bombarded with news from our communities, countries, and around the world. Disasters, tragedies, wars, environmental issues, politics, corporate scandals, social and lifestyle issues, winners and losers. The media has touched every part of our lives – feeding us the same information on world events and happenings - creating a bond shared among citizens of this planet.

Can we, in return, use the media’s news in our own lives? Can we learn deeper ‘life’ lessons from the same stories splashed across the news? Every couple of weeks, a new story is added to this section. Why would we add a piece of news here?  We hope that by comparing and contrasting parts of the story to the spiritual side of your life, you will dig deeper also, and think about your own personal relationship with God.

If the life lesson drawn from the story conflicts with your thinking, please email and let us know.  If the story has raised a question or concern in your mind, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us personally.

Senator Sues God Almighty
By Peter Ramsay @ 10:22 AM :: 795 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Life Lessons

It’s not a joke. Senator Ernie Chambers is no juvenile, young upstart or shooting star. He is Nebraska’s longest serving senator. He has politically represented the people of Omaha for 35+ years. He has been a champion for the underprivileged and the vulnerable. Although he often skips the morning prayers during the legislative sessions and levels criticism at Christians, he does not doubt the existence of God.

Those few fleeting seconds of disbelief as the normal driving conditions abruptly changed must have been horrifying. “What’s going on here? Why is my car behaving this way?” Instantly the traffic ahead is veering out of control and as far as you can see the concrete in front of you is breaking up and disappearing. Is this for real?

Grand Canyon - Long Jumpers Would Perish
By Peter Ramsay @ 7:23 PM :: 698 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Life Lessons

It happened in Tokyo in 1991. The world record for the longest jump was broken! America’s superb athletes Carl Lewis and Mike Powell were the stars.

In the first round of the Long Jump competition Carl Lewis took the lead jumping 28 feet, 5.75 inches. Mike Powell came out on top in the 2nd round at 28 feet, .25 inches. Aided by the wind, Carl Lewis jumped back in the 3rd round for a 28 foot, 11.75 inch jump. But the next two rounds were led by Powell. 29 feet, 2.75 inches and then the incredible monster jump of 29 feet, 4.5 inches. That was on August 30, 1991. Mike Powell still holds the world record for the longest human jump ever recorded.

What's In Your Shopping Cart?
By Peter Ramsay @ 9:42 PM :: 960 Views :: 1 Comments :: :: Life Lessons

We get out of our cars. Lock the doors. Walk to the entrance of the store. Pick up a shopping cart and away we go. Shopping up and down the aisles. Have you ever wondered about the shopping cart itself? Or is it too commonplace and ordinary to even think about? Who invented the first shopping cart?

When the first shopping cart emerged, it got off to a bumpy start. Male shoppers thought they were too girly to use. Some women thought they were unfashionable and others thought they were too much like baby carriages. Older people rejected them because it made them look prematurely frail. They didn’t want to be seen leaning on or pushing around carts as if they need props and supports. So to win people over, entrepreneurial Goldman hired cool male and female models to walk around his Piggly-Wiggly stores pushing the shopping carts as if they were genuine shoppers.

Gays and Lesbians - God's Love
By Peter Ramsay @ 6:10 AM :: 2744 Views :: 3 Comments :: :: Life Lessons

Currently, we are doing some advertising through an internet search engine in an attempt to bring searchers (seekers) to www.heaven4sure.com to hear the good news about Jesus Christ. The approach has been very broad as we are seeking to reach people from all walks of life - including different lifestyles, religious beliefs, dependencies and attitudes. We've identified over 100 words that people may search for on the internet. When they search for any one of those 100 words, the www.heaven4sure website is advertised on the page containing their search results. If they click on the heaven4sure ad they are taken to the website.

Two words that consistently attract a significant proportion of visits to heaven4sure.com is 'gay' and ‘lesbian.’ People sitting at their keyboard, typing in these words see the list of results from their search and then notice the small advertisement about being sure of heaven and finding peace, and those same people are visiting the website. Maybe you are one of them.

Maybe you are gay or lesbian.

By Peter Ramsay @ 6:05 PM :: 674 Views :: 0 Comments :: :: Life Lessons

Dr. Jack Kevorkian graduated from medical school in 1952 as a pathologist. He has had a keen interest in ‘death’ for decades. As early as 1956 he published a paper on his attempt to photograph the eyes of patients at their moment of death. This project earned him the nickname “Doctor Death.”

A couple of years later he lost his medical position with the University of Michigan for proposing to experiment with convicts as they were being executed. In the early 60’s he published an article summarizing his efforts to transfuse blood from dead bodies to living ones.......
