Your iniquities have separated between YOU and YOUR GOD, and YOUR SINS have hid His face from you…  Isaiah 59:2

ALL have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23

The soul that sins it shall die. Ezekiel 18:20

The wages of sin is death. Romans 6:23

The wicked shall be turned into Hell and all the nations that forget God. Psalm 9:17

1. What is your greatest problem right now?
2. Why are you not right with God? What will keep you from going to Heaven when you die?
3. Who are your sins against?
4. Are you personally guilty?

Romans 3:19 (You don’t have to understand ‘how’ dark your heart is. It’s not so much the sins you have already done or ever will do; it’s what you are by nature and what you have the potential to do. You may not appreciate the full extent of your sins, but can you accept the picture God paints of your heart in Romans 3 and in Isaiah 64:6?  (Look up and read these verses in your Bible and see if they accurately describe you.)

1. What does the Bible say about the consequences of sin?
2. Would God be righteous (good) and fair if He sent you to Hell because of your sins?
3. Is Hell and eternal torment where you really should be forever?
4. Have you ever told God that?
5. If you died suddenly before you finished reading this, exactly where would you be?

While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time, Christ died for (on behalf of) the ungodly.  Romans 5:6

1. How much strength do you have to save yourself from your sins and from Hell?
2. According to this verse, do you qualify to have Christ save you?
3. Are you ‘ungodly’? God only sees two classes of people. Godly and the ungodly. Are you Godly? You are either/or.
4. What does ‘for’ mean?

But God commended (showed or proved) His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

1. What is the evidence that God loves you despite your awful sins? How do you know that God loves you?
2. Do you expect God to show you greater proof that He loves you?

Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the Just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God.    1Peter 3:18

1. You are separated from God for ONE reason. What is the reason?
2. Do you want to meet God after you die with all your sins?
3. The suffering in this verse was for ONE reason. What was the reason?
4. Who did the suffering?
5. Who was the Just (Righteous) One?
6. Who is the unjust guilty sinner?
7. If Jesus took your sins out of the way, what is keeping you from God now?

Who His Own self bare our sins in His own body on the Tree. 1Peter 2:24

1. Who was on the Cross?
2. Why was He on the Cross?
3. Whose sins were laid on Him?
4. Were your sins placed upon Jesus?
5. How do you know?
6. Were your sins so terrible that they caused the death of Jesus?
7. Why did it have to be Jesus on the cross – why couldn’t it have been someone else?
8. Who should have suffered in Hell for your sins?
9. Why would Jesus want to die for your sins?

“When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, He said: “It is finished:” and He bowed His head and gave up His spirit” – He died. John 19:30

Three days later, when they were looking for His body, the angel said: “He is not here, but is risen.” Luke 24:6

“This Man, after He had offered ONE sacrifice for sins forever SAT DOWN on the right hand of God.” Hebrews 10:12

And now… “The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from ALL sin.” 1John 1:7

What is the one thing God has against you and His one reason for keeping you out of heaven?

What did Jesus mean when He said from the Cross just before He died: “It is Finished.” What did He finish? What was done?

If God hadn’t been satisfied that Jesus finished the work of paying for your sins, would He have raised Jesus from the dead on the third day?

When someone finishes their job, what do they often do when it is all done? (clue: Hebrews 10:12)

Today how can your sins be washed away?

The resurrection of Christ is God’s stamp of approval and satisfaction that Jesus’ death paid for all your sins. God is satisfied that His death answered for all your sins. Nothing more is required – from God’s perspective.

Are you satisfied that Jesus’ death was enough to pay for your sins? Have you ever told God how you feel about that?

When someone pays your debt in full, how much is left owing? When a work is finished, what remains to be done? If a load has been lifted, how much weight remains? If a gift is free, how much can you pay for it?

By grace you are saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any one should boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9

The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Grace means you did NOT deserve any kindness from God. Faith means trust.

1. What does a gift mean?
2. In this verse, who is giving the gift?
3. Have you ever accepted it?
4. Why not?
5. What will happen when you accept the gift?

It’s your Birthday. Your friend saves up money to buy you a gift. He buys it. There is a distance between you and your friend so he packages it and sends it in the mail by special delivery. You will have to sign for it when it arrives. The mail delivery person walks up to your doorstep and knocks on the door. You answer it. He says he has a parcel for you from a certain person. You have to make a choice as to whether or not you will accept it and sign your name as having received the package.

In this analogy – Your friend is God. The gift is His Son Jesus and eternal life through Him. The delivery man is the Holy Spirit. He knocks on the door of your life with a gift from God. You have a choice to make as to whether or not you will accept what the Holy Spirit has to give you – Christ Himself forever. Your simple acceptance of Christ is all God wants. Have you ever thanked God?

How many times is the word ‘gift’ found in Romans 5? What do you think God is trying to tell you by using this word ‘gift’ so often in just this one chapter?
